character info.
name. Tamesis age. 3 years
gender. Male
species. Timber wolf
weight. 95 lbs.
height 2'7"
appearance.
Tamesis is quite the average male wolf. Although his build is stocky and shoulders are broad and masculine, his stride is smooth. When walking his step is heavy, which makes for a difficult time hunting smaller animals. This size of course makes him a decent fighter, and though he is a little clumsy due to his size he has plenty of muscle and weight to throw around.
His eyes are a stunning amber, with a slight yellowish tint on the inner rim. It is usually visible in a brighter light. His pelt is an average array of gray, white, and brown, with a few flecks of black along his flank and legs. He does have one scar along the side of his face, but the overgrown fur hides most of the bare flesh.

history.
Tamesis was not always the strong willed wolf. Born the runt of a frail litter, the young male barely made it through pup-hood alive. It had been quite the harsh winter, and his mother, Pareila, had become ill. The pups were lucky to have even been born. His father, Unbris, aided in her recovery along with the rest of their pack, for it was slowly dwindling and pups were greatly needed if it were to survive. Thus, Tamesis slowly grew and survived the winter and made it into spring as a healthy young pup. His world was, to him, normal and quite average. That was, until his father decided to challenge their alpha. It was a bloody fight, and in the end both wolves wound up losing their lives. Many of the pack members were angry at Unbris for such a ludicrous and untimely challenge, but because the deceased was not able to take ridicule and scorn they turned to Pareila and her pups. Soon Tamesis grew into a strong young wolf, and took the weight of their fathers' challenge on his shoulders. In his mothers age it was not something she needed to deal with, and his sisters were not up to the fight.
Eventually, Tamesis grew tired of their rejection, and became angry. He became silent, and though he grew tired of his pack he did as he was told. Eventually, one of the pack betas decided to push the boundaries with the young male, and Tamesis snapped. Teeth bared and fur standing on end, he took after the beta with fangs. Though the beta was injured, he was not without his marks, and the side of his face bled profusely from the gash. Tail tucked, Tamesis took for the woods and left his pack, partially ashamed, yet partially relieved to be free from the ridicule he suffered for so long.

starting post.
It was a chilly, quiet morning. The watery light filtered through the trees, its glow only a slight comfort from the cold. Squirrels chattered noisily in the trees, their paws full of their winter storage, which will soon be forgotten--nature's way of growing and producing life. The trees which had already survived years of harsh winters now stood tall, their branches high and unwavering in the bitter wind. Their thick, round trunks cast deep shadows across the frozen earth. Amidst the shadows, a figure weaved in and out, its movements light and low. It's deep amber eyes scanned the area with intense prudence. The smell of other wolves were near; a scent marker had to be here somewhere, and the figure was more than wary of any others that may be lurking, waiting to attack for intruding.
But it was far from intrusion. Tamesis was, in fact, searching for a home. It had been a few days...weeks...he could not remember, since he left his old life and home behind in search of something new. A fresh start, that's what he needed. The wolf exhaled slowly as he surveyed his surroundings, a puff of air rising past his nose. The ground was cold and hard beneath his paws, but his calloused pads shielded him from most of the chill. Leaf litter scattered the earth, adding an extra crunch in his step. It was not all that beneficial; many small mammals found the noise to be quite scary, and most were gone before he could even get close enough for a good hunt. It was quite irritating, but Tamesis had to move on. Still paws caught no prey. Huffing quietly to himself, he plodded along a narrow strip of trees until the smell of wolf became ever stronger.
Scent marker... Tamesis thought to himself, a thoughtful glaze in his eyes. He had no idea who these wolves were, or how they ran their lives, but he could be fairly sure that it was better than the life he lived before. No more ridicule...no more scorn. He could be a different wolf and gratefully take on any role they needed to have filled. He desired the rank of alpha, but he had a sinking feeling that if this pack was together, then the position was already taken. With a grunt, Tamesis planted himself firmly on his haunches amidst the trees, fur flat and ears set back slightly in a submissive position. He could only hope to be accepted, and if not, at least escape with his body in tact. His senses were on the constant alert, eyes, ears, and nose taking in everything possible. His stomach grumbled; maybe, if the pack did not show up, a nice warm rabbit would.

[bg=000000][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Welcome to Wilderland! For: Tamesis Muse: Good Words: 574 _______________________________________ Morning dawned with a bitter chill that threatened to throw the whole of the forest landscape into the harshest of deep freezes. The gentle flakes that had fallen the night before had since been blown aside by the clever north wind, leaving the bare remains of the fallen leaves in their midst. The crunching and crackling underfoot was the only reminder that fall had only been chased out by the savage winter mistress just a few weeks prior. The autumn forest had been a sight to behold under the leaf bearing trees as their emerald shrouds began to change, a spectrum of red, yellow, and brown colors overtaking them for a few short weeks. After which the gentle breeze blowing through the trees would pull them from their lofty perches and they would flutter silently to the ground below in which to shrivel and return to the earth. But times were different now.It was in the midst of the forest that the silhouette of a dark figure wound in and out between the great towering trees. The she-wolf trotted along, her skull held in a straight and even line with her topline, an even balance from the stop between her eyes all the way back to the tip of her slightly relaxed tail. Pale blue eyes searched the landscape from east to west and back again, seeking, searching for anything out of the ordinary. Slightly her jaws parted and her moist tongue slipped from between her dark lips to cavort over her muzzle, slightly dampening the fine fur and whiskers. Varekai inhaled, pausing only for a split second as she was not quite accustomed to the bitter cold. Nothing was amiss according to her sense of smell and she continued on.The crackling of the dead and dried leaves under her paws was put out of her mind and drown out by the sounds of nature. Snow falling off an overhead branch to her left, a squirrel chittering at her angrily as it scurried up a nearby tree, the sound of the breeze whistling softly between the branches all around her. Traversing slowly, shifting her head a bit lower she brought herself to a walk. Searching muzzle sniffed the ground. Varekai's ears shot forward and her tail darted skyward. The scent of another wolf invaded her nostrils and sent her consciousness onto alert. Picking up a trot she silently followed the scent, keeping to the outskirts of the larger trees, veering behind the low lying brush.After a few brief moments a shape came into focus. It was a silvery tawny colored creature seated on its hindquarters and unmoving. As she made her stealthy approach her quivering black nostrils took in more of the scent, fresher this time. The lupine figure before her was quite obviously an adult and by the masculinity musk of the scent, male. Nearing the wolf she slowed to a walk, pausing to watch him for a moment. Brilliant blue eyes noted that he was quiet, unmoving, not standing in a defensive or aggressive position and that his fur lay flat and his ears slightly back. He was not a threat, at least not yet. Leaving the shelter of the low branches Varekai stood at full height, ears perked, tail held high, and walked regally into the opening, coming to a halt a short distance from him."What brings you into the realm of the forest spirits? Do they not beckon you home?"

"Tamesis' speech." || Tamesis' thoughts.
Tamesis' nose twitched; the cold was beginning to seep through his winter coat, and he could feel his muscles stiffen from sitting still for so long. A gust of wind sliced through him as he brought his chin to his chest to shield from the chill. Tamesis could only hope that some creature would come along soon. His stomach began to growl.
Just as the young wolf was about to give up hope, a fresh scent reached his nose. It was not that of a scent marker, no--more like the scent of the wolf itself. He became slightly eager, and like a pup his paws began to shift with anxiety. Who was this wolf? Were they to be friendly? Maybe they would be the ones to welcome him into a new home, a new life. But he remained as still as possible. Any sign of forward movement may give them the impression that he was aggressive or looked to take their territory. That was in fact the farthest thing from his mind. Ambitious to show himself worthy of becoming a pack member, he pulled his head up straight and held his position as though he were frozen amidst the winter woodland surrounding him.
Then, he saw it. A dark silhouette crossed his vision, its stride lean and comfortable with the territory around it. Tamesis could be sure that this was indeed one of those who made the scent markers, and even further, that it was a female. His heart pace quickened slightly--he had not encountered many females on his wanderings, or even back at home. He hoped it would not be any different in conversation with her than it would be another male. Ah, he must stop over thinking! Too much doubt can cloud the mind. He had to be in top notch mental stability. As he watched the figure cautiously, it finally came into full view. A beautiful black wolf with piercing blue eyes stared right back at him, and suddenly Tamesis became self conscious. Slowly, he placed himself in a down position and looked up at her. Tamesis knew she held power and strength, though her voice was not bold or loud. The male swallowed heavily before responding, eyes downcast in what seemed to be shame.
"I would be beckoned, if I had a home to return to," Tamesis replied softly, heart thudding in his ears. "I actually came here in search of a new home, a new pack. My name...is Tamesis." He watched her silently afterwards, wondering what she would say. Would she reject him? He hoped her heart was soft, and she would let him stay. He did not think he could bear this harsh winter alone for much longer.

[bg=000000][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]For: Tamesis Muse: Good Words: 561 _______________________________________ Varekai's piercing blue eyes never left the other wolf's form as soon as he came into her sight they were cast upon him. Though her years were short and she was only just an adult herself, the raven colored she-wollf knew that if wasn't completely focused and took her eyes from a strange canine that she could put herself into grave danger. It didn't matter if this wolf was aggressive or submissive, it was about protecting herself and her pack land, from any and all that might present a potential threat. He was no different. She wasn't going to take her eyes off of him until she knew where he came from and what he was doing wandering this close and even choosing to just cross over her border. It could mean certain death or one hell of a life-threatening battle if he was one to try and claim her land for himself. She wasn't going to give it up without a fight. Not after all she'd gone through.And yet, the male tawny seated near didn't have an air of aggression coming from him or at least not that she could pick up. In fact, to Varekai he seemed to have an aura of self doubt. It radiated off of him in great waves, but to this she said nothing. After she had presented him with a question he appeared to hunker down, lowing himself toward the leaf littered ground, showing a softer side of submission. She watched him offer up his submission and waited quietly as his eyes left her form and stared at the ground. Varekai was pleased at this display of lowliness. Clearly he knew he was ingressing on lands that she had already claimed as her own. He seemed to know his place in the presence of an alpha. And in that moment, as Varekai looked down on him, she was pleased.Her ears perked ever forward as his muzzle parted and he finally spoke a reply. Her silent breaths hung on the words that came from the wolf. Her eyes watching as every syllable was formed. When his jaws at last ceased speaking and came together once more only then did Varekai breathe deeply. Her demeanor remained the same, statuesque and regal, but she allowed herself to breathe a little easier. He was not here to claim her lands. His display of submission and the statement that he had just given was enough to prove that to her. She felt a ind of empathy for this wolf she didn't know. He was without a home and a pack to call his own or be a welcomed home by. The spirits wept for things like this. Varekai knew that. That did not mean he could not still pose a threat, and she would not allow herself to let her guard down, not just yet."Very well, Tamesis. You've happened upon the terra that the spirits have lent to me. This is the border to my pack land. At the moment, I am the only creature of my kind that I know of in this place, or was, until you appeared. You say you seek a home, a pack. What have you to offer to me and the spirits as we reign over these lands?"She let her voice trail off quietly, waiting to see what answers he might provide her.

"Tamesis' speech." || Tamesis' thoughts.
Suddenly the male felt at ease. Her teeth did not meet his neck, nor did he catch wind of any growl or dominating bark. Slowly Tamesis lifted his head to meet her eyes, and felt incredibly intimidated. She was strong. Her dominance was apparent, and he could feel it. Her confidence was desirable, and Tamesis felt jealous. Although he had physical strength, and his fangs were powerful, this she-wolf could match him in confidence, and she probably had a bite to match. But he held her gaze, and did not waver. There was a gleam of approval in her eyes, and her guard was not so heavily laden on his shoulders. He was glad, because if she did not feel at ease with his presence she may have ended up chasing him away. And with this bitter cold that just would not do. The search would be way too long. He exhaled slowly as his muscles relaxed, a small puff of hot air rising past his nostrils.
Then she spoke. Although she welcomed him, she had not yet given him her name. Her guard was still up, but he did not feel nervous. It was natural for one to protect themselves, and for some it was keeping their name hidden until they felt comfortable enough to share. His eyes glowed with understanding, though she still continued to speak. He was slightly stunned at the fact that, until this very moment, she was the only one of their kind roaming through these trees; in his old home there were several packs nearby, and one could not go anywhere without seeing another wolf pass by. It was strange, he did not even notice how quiet the world was...how empty it was, until just now. It was rather eerie. He shook off that feeling with a light shiver.
As his mind drifted off momentarily through the snow covered trees, she asked him a question he was not quite sure how to answer. He parted his jaws, then quickly shut them again. What did he have to offer? Strength? Hunting skills? Protection? Finding her eyes again, he saw nothing but patience. She was willing to wait for his answer, and was not eager to give him any sort of idea as to what it was she wanted. His stomach made a low gurgling noise; it was hard to concentrate with his gut crying out for some sort of decent nourishment. Tamesis could feel the warm flesh of rabbit tempting his taste buds.
The male shook out his pelt slightly and brought himself to a crouched sitting position. Although she knew he was submissive, sitting to full height was probably not the best idea. He kept his ears flat and tail wrapped neatly by his paws. He felt that lying on the ground was not best for any sort of conversation, no matter what situation he found himself in. Clearing his throat, Tamesis prepared himself for his explanation.
"Yes, I am in need of a new home." He started softly. "And I can offer you protection and patrol borders. I can also hunt well...I can bring down fairly big prey on my own." He lowered his head again, anxiety now coursing through his veins. "I can do whatever you want me to do...and be whoever you want me to be."

[bg=000000][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]Woohoo, good work, nice posts. For: Tamesis Muse: Very Good Words: 751 Background Noise: Trans-Siberian Orchestra/Christmas Eve and Other Stories _______________________________________ As Varekai watched the male wolf with curiosity she hoped that he could see what she felt and was trying to show. She was not overly aggressive, nor was she one to 'jump the gun'. Over-reacting was something she took great care never to do. Thinking things through and deciding, weighing the outcomes of all of the potential outcomes was how the dark she-wolf's mind worked things out. If she were to over-react now all it would accomplish would be making Tamesis flighty and probably fearful. And if it didn't make him frightened of her or drive him away it might take a turn for a road even worse. It could make him turn angry and the last thing she wanted at the moment was a fight. No, acting out aggressively didn't make sense at this point, especially to a stranger of the same species. It actually made her feel a bit... comforted. Another wolf in a wide world that she was feeling so alone in.Again she waited for his answer and when he willed himself to speak Varekai was slightly surprised at the words that he spoke. He had no place to lay his head, no pack to welcome him, no road that was worn well with his paw prints. Nothing, no place to belong. Varekai remembered feeling like that. She remembered the life she had before she had risked it all to escape. Those thoughts pressed in on the walls of her psyche and she quickly shoved them back into the depths of her consciousness. It was not the time to dwell on the past. There would be further time for recollection. Maybe even a time to talk about such memories with one of her own. This was not it. But it was not that he was seeking a place to call his home that had given her the surprise that she did not show as her statuesque face remained vigilant and unemotional.The next words that he uttered were what in reality he could offer to her and a potential pack that would be governed intangibly by the spirits that had shaped the lands over the centuries and tangibly by a noble raven coated she-wolf. He spoke of his ability to scour the borders as a potential sentry or being able to bring prey back to the waiting pack. If she placed him with the title Atsa (sentry) he would have much ground to cover and would constantly be on the go. Varekai did not know if that role would suit the young male if she let him stay. Searching her thoughts she also was uncertain if was to remain in the lands and become the first member of her pack if offering him the rank as a Raust (hunter) would be the best option. She could feed herself and there were currently no others that needed to be sated at the present time. She thought it over in her mind, allowing herself to be lost in her thoughts for a moment.It was the next line that she became further lost in her thoughts over. "I can do whatever you want me to do...and be whoever you want me to be." Those words played over in her mind. There were two meanings she could get from them. It could be that the tawny colored male was merely saying whatever he could to gain a place in her lands. To gain her respect. Being as he could and saying whatever he could to get what he wanted. On the other hand, it could be that he was sincere in his words and that he really would do anything she asked of him if she allowed him to remain in her lands. But to be whoever she wished him to be. Her mind puzzled over those words. She had no answers for what he really meant by them."Right now, our lupine numbers are few, the spirits have not yet beckoned many of us home to this beautiful place of trees, water, and earth. For now, you need not worry about hunting for a pack that as of now does not exist. Keep yourself well-fed for the time being. You've obviously made a long trip out here." Varekai paused. "My name, Tamesis, is Varekai." Again, she paused, as if pondering over her words. "...and who is it you presume I wish you to be?" It probably sounded a bit foolish, but her mind could not sort out what meaning his words held.

"Tamesis' speech." || Tamesis' thoughts.
The she-wolf seemed distant. Her eyes were looking off into a far away place, as though something he said was not what she wanted to hear. Did he upset her? Tamesis swallowed heavily and could only hope that she would not lay her fangs into his neck. Nothing came. He blinked slowly in surprise. She had no bodily signs to show intent of harming him.
But the raven wolf responded to him calmly, and quietly. And his head fell. No place in the pack to hunt? He surely did not mind hunting for himself, or for her. It would a job he would gladly take. But alas she did not seem interested in giving him such a place, as there really was not much need for it. Tamesis sighed inwardly to himself. Maybe this was not meant to be his home. But as he was about to resign his attempts at joining her pack, she parted her jaws again, this time to reveal something he thought would never cross her tongue. Varekai. That was her name. This mysterious kindred spirit was Varekai. How soothing it was to hear it. He felt serene. It was amazing what it could do, the knowledge that this wolf standing before him was no figment of his imagination. Nor would she be some dark face amidst a sea of others without a name. Tamesis felt joy. "It is nice to meet you, Varekai." He replied, bowing his head with respect.
But then he became confused. Glancing up, Tamesis tilted his head like that of a bewildered pup. ...and who is it you presume I wish you to be? She seemed quite conflicted herself, and was no unsure of how to respond. He sat silently for a few moments, mulling over his words before he responded.
"I have no presumptions," He started. "I merely meant that whatever you need me to do for you, I will gladly do. I will take on whatever position you wish me to take on, no matter what you choose." It was quite hard for him to reply properly in this situation. To him the words made sense, but when asked to explain them he suddenly became aware that they were quite confusing. Tamesis became silent and mused in the silence that hung between them, hoping that he did not ruin his chances of finding a pack. With the slicing wind and bitter cold, no creature should find itself alone unless it truly wished to be. And since Tamesis wished to find himself among his own kind, it would be best to live that way.

[bg=000000][atrb=width,400,true][atrb=border,0,true]After your reply, you will get your pack/rank added to your profile and you may roleplay around the board. Great job! For: Tamesis Muse: Good Words: 641 _______________________________________ Varekai stood there, unmoving, looking over at her wolven companion, pondering the mystery of his thoughts. Her bright blue eyes sought out his and she found herself lost in the bright yellow hue for a moment. When his muzzle opened and he again began speaking her ears perked forward on the edge of her skull and she listened. She felt as if she had spoken too much, before, but what less could she have said to get the point across. Her words might have sounded harsh, unwelcoming and maybe even a bit rash but that was not her intention at all. She only wanted him to realize that there wasn't much a need for a hunter if there was only herself to feed and himself if it came down to the point of him staying within the lands that he had come in to. The dark female hoped that she hadn't changed his mind. Even if she had it might be for the best, but a small part of her, lost somewhere inside, wanted him to stay. He was the only wolf she had seen in a long while. There was a strange comfort in that.Words formed in her mind but they stayed unsaid for a few seconds as she thought them over. "It is a welcome relief that the spirits have brought you here." It may have sounded awkward but it was Varekai's own way of saying that she was pleased to meet him to. She was not accustomed to the typical way of speaking and almost found it difficult at times, though she was getting better at it. Every word she said in that one small sentence was true. She was glad that he was here. For a while the solace and silence had been a welcome change from the things she was used to, but now, it was nice to look upon another living lupine soul. She didn't have the words to tell him this, and didn't think it was time to go about explaining it, or trying to.Her eyes watched his head droop. She hoped that her mannerism and words had not upset him, that was not her intention. Patiently she waited to see if he would answer her other statement. The inner conflict that had reared within passed out of her mind and into the shadows of her thoughts. He spoke again and again she listened. He seemed, with his words, to be trying to reconcile himself for what he had said early. Varekai tilted her head curiously as he spoke. She could see now that he wasn't just speaking to give her what he believed she wanted to hear. He was speaking these words from the innermost part of his being and was being truthful. She felt that.Her mind thought it over and she realized that he had come a long way and that he deserved his chance. Some part of her, growing more with every word he spoke, wanted him here. She wanted to know that he would be safe and secure in all of his endeavors, and perhaps, mostly because she simply did not want to be alone anymore. Her mind was comforted in knowing that her own lupine blood, no matter how distant was here in front of her in the form of this golden-eyed creature. Varekai was pleased. Simply pleased."Tamesis, I can only wish you to be yourself. Your presence comforts me. Long has it been since I have looked upon another wolf. You have your place in this land, and in my pack. For now your rank shall be Tyaro (Subordinate), but I am sure within the coming weeks that will change. Where you end up is up to you, show your worth and I will reward it. I bid you welcome, to my home, to your home, to Lunitari."

"Tamesis' speech." || Tamesis' thoughts.
Finally, his body and mind could be at ease. Varekai no longer seemed wary of his presence, or found him to be any sort of threat to her or the packlands she held so dear. And these...spirits, as she called them seemed to approve as well, otherwise the dark she-wolf may have chased him away with bared fangs. Tamesis could feel his heart slow to a rather comfortable pace, and his head no longer ached with anxiety. He knew he was safe. The look in her eyes spoke of approval, and that was all he could wish for. He wagged his tail slightly at her words, which brought about a sort of kinship that Tamesis had not felt in a long time. A sort of smile appeared on his maw as he nodded.
"I feel a sense of relief myself. I thought I would wander in loneliness for the rest of my life..." His voice trailed off momentarily as he imagined a world in which his pawsteps carried no sound, for he would be the only one to catch any noise. And if he were the only one to hear it, was there indeed a sound? It made him shudder to picture such a place of loneliness and silence. The quiet was a welcomed thing, but if left for too long it may wear out its stay. With shifted paws he continued to watch the raven wolf, her gaze steady and firm. Tamesis knew he could live under such a being; one who could hold the eyes of another without giving away their thoughts was one worth respecting. He could not ask for a better leader. Not that he was under command just yet, for she still held her silence. He held himself still, ears swiveling at the tiny scuffles amongst the fallen leaves and patches of snow. Soon would be time to hunt; his stomach was completely empty by now, and the cold was only egging encouraging its irritating growl.
But, at last she spoke the words which he had waited for. Welcome. Acceptance. Appreciation for his presence. A rank. A home. Tongue lolling slightly out of sheer happiness, Tamesis stood slowly and lowered his head, eyes still focused on his new alpha. His tail remained low and his ears flat against his head; she had to know that he understood his place.
"Thank you, my alpha." Tamesis replied with appreciation. "I will work hard to prove my worth, and be an effective member of the pack. Although you wish for me to be myself, you still have the ability to ask me of anything. It is the least I can do as thanks for letting me take up residence in your home."
Tamesis knew that Varekai had the power to tell him to be one that he was not, but telling her may let her know that it is okay to do so. After all, she rescued him from loneliness. What else was he to give, when he had nothing else? Ears now perked forward in a new surge of confidence and acceptance, he slowly stepped the boundaries between his past life and the future. The sun filtered through the trees, warming his fur gently. Sighing, Tamesis began to sniff for any sign of prey. The future looked warm, bright, and full of good protective company and prey.
